I’m identifying with the new album by The National. (Mom, that’s the band that you hated when we saw them on The Colbert Report a few weeks ago. Sorry.) I just want to crawl into ‘Fireproof’ and hibernate the summer away. Probably should just sleep more and stop dwelling on the fact that everyone has moved downtown or left the city.

I spent the last five days in Virginia with Kelly, making flowers and driving around Lynchburg. The hills are beautiful, especially at dusk. It was a welcome change of pace – no need to think about anything else when you have bucket after bucket of flowers around you. We got the beautiful roses from Pharsalia and the blueberry, nigella, baptisia and lambs ear from Irvington Spring Farm.
